A COSTLY DEFENSE: PHYSICIANS SOUND OFF ON THE HIGH PRICE OF DEFENSIVE MEDICINE IN THE U.S.

Between October 2009 and May 2010, Jackson Healthcare led a series of surveys with thousands of physicians from all specialties across the U.S. The purpose of this study was to quantify and qualify the economic and noneconomic impacts of defensive medicine.

Our research has been featured on CNN, Newsweek and numerous other media channels. It has forged new relationships and stimulated renewed debate around this ongoing (and costly) problem.

This ebook presents our key findings and data in an easy to read, and easy to share, document. We hope it encourages physicians, patients, attorneys and legislators to work together to find a solution that eliminates defensive medicine practices, protects physicians from frivolous lawsuits, penalizes true malpractice and fairly compensates patients for negligent care.
