Who is Jackson Healthcare?

Founded by healthcare pioneer Richard L. Jackson, Jackson Healthcare serves more than two million patients in nearly one thousand hospitals each year.  The Jackson family of companies provides physician and clinician staffing, anesthesia management and healthcare information technology solutions proven to improve clinical and financial outcomes, as well as increase operational efficiency.

What are the Hospital Charitable Service Awards?

The awards will recognize the accomplishments of hospital programs across the nation that rise above traditional community benefit set a new standard in serving the underserved.

Why is Jackson Healthcare recognizing the charitable services of hospital programs?

Jackson Healthcare knows that hospitals give back to their communities in remarkable and innovative ways.  Often away from the spotlight and attention of the media and general public.  We want to elevate the reputation of hospitals by bringing attention to their charitable programs, and by rewarding outstanding efforts.

What types of hospitals/healthcare organizations are eligible for the Awards?

All hospital-funded charitable community programs are eligible for the Hospital Charitable Services Awards.  We recognize the incredible work that independent health clinics and non-hospital private foundations are playing in communities across the nation; however, nominations are limited to hospitals at this time.

Can "for-profit" and "government" Hospitals participate?

Yes. Jackson Healthcare seeks to bring positive attention to the community-focused accomplishments of all U.S. hospitals.

What types of charitable services will be recognized?

Jackson Healthcare is interested in hearing about all types of community services, but we will recognize those hospitals whose programs are designed to truly meet community needs rather than to market the hospital. Free care is one component of community service, but we're also looking for outreach innovation, medical mission efforts, support services, and need-based education and screening services - just to name a few!

Will individual's contributions to programs be recognized?

The Hospital Charitable Service Awards are designed to award and recognize programs that make a corporate/organizational commitment to community benefit, not individual superstars within hospitals.

Who can make nominations for the awards?

Anyone can nominate a hospital. Hospital administrators and employees, and patients and community members alike are asked to nominate deserving hospitals for their charitable services.

How do I nominate a hospital for an Award?

Simply download our nomination form by clicking here.

Can I nominate the same hospital for different charitable service programs?

Absolutely.

When is the submission deadline?

End of business day on Friday, October 14, 2011.

What are your video requirements?  Please note that a video is optional.

We want to help you share your story with the world, and video is a great storytelling tool.  We would like videos to be formatted for easy upload to YouTube.  Resolution should be 1280x720 or 1920x1080.  Preferred codec is MPEG-2 or H.264, and preferred containers are FLV, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4.  Click here to visit YouTube spec page.  Need some examples?  Click here to watch some featured hospital stories on our YouTube channel.

How many Hospitals will be recognized?

We are not defining a set number.  We want a group of independent advisors to evaluate the applicants and decide how the awards should be allocated.  Our goal is to spotlight ALL innovative efforts.

How often will awards be given?

This is an annual awards program.

When will the Finalists and Award Recipients be announced?

The finalists will be announced in December 2011.  The Award recipients will be announced and recognized at the Awards Conference at the St. Regis Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia on February 16, 2012.

What are the details for the 2012 Conference?

Details can be found on the conference page.  Dress for the conference and banquet is business casual.

Can I re-nominate a hospital for a future award?

Award recipients will not be eligible for re-nomination; however, hospital programs that were not a finalist or award recipient are eligible for re-nomination in subsequent years.  More important than the awards is the community we want to build around promoting best practices in charitable community service.
