Jackson Healthcare To Host National Hospital Charitable Services Conference

ATLANTA - On Thursday, February 16, 2012, Jackson Healthcare will host the second annual Hospital Charitable Services Conference and Awards Banquet at The St. Regis Atlanta.  This year's conference will focus on measuring and communicating "return on invested giving," which describes how much good a hospital program achieves with contributed funds.

Julie A. Trocchio will kick-off the conference with a keynote speech.  Trocchio serves as Senior Director of Community Benefit/Continuing Care Ministries with the Catholic Health Association of the United States.  Paul Spiegelman, founder and CEO of The Beryl Companies, will speak that evening and share how charitable service influences organizational culture.

"Our goal is to foster collective thinking about how hospitals can bring rigor to the planning, operation and reporting of the charitable services they offer, said Charles R. Evans, FACHE, who serves as chairman of the Hospital Charitable Service Awards program.

According to Evans, the purpose of the Awards program and conference is to shine a light on hospital services that often go unrecognized for the work they do saving lives and bringing medical care to underserved populations in their communities.

"We want to create opportunities for hospitals to learn together, support each other and serve as models for building sustainable charitable healthcare services that benefit communities," said Evans.

The Hospital Charitable Awards were created in February 2010.  In February 2011, ten hospital programs were selected as Programs of Excellence for their impactful, collaborative and sustainable approaches to bringing healthcare to underserved communities.

At a special banquet following the upcoming February 16th conference, a new group of hospital programs will be recognized and rewarded for their work.  Thirty-eight hospital programs, out of 197 nominees, remain in the running for this year's awards.
