CHINESE AGAPE FOUNDATION AND JACKSON HEALTHCARE CHARITIES PARTNER FOR MEDICAL MISSIONS

Alpharetta, GA-Sept. 4, 2009- Jackson Healthcare Charities and the Chinese Agape Foundation, recently completed a two week medical mission brigade to southeastern China. The purpose of the trip was twofold. The first goal was to visit and learn about a number of orphanages that have been established through the Chinese Agape Foundation. In addition, the team visited the Jackson Family Foundation Christian Care Center that is currently under construction. Jackson Healthcare Charities is providing the funding for the new orphanage. Slated to open in October, the new orphanage will house 150 children and 10 to 15 staff members. Majority of the children that will be cared for in this specific facility were directly affected by the earthquake.

The second purpose was to provide medical care to children in need of lifesaving procedures. A team of more than 50 volunteers, including, physicians, nurses, caretakers, photographers and interpreters, performed 82 surgeries, including 77 cleft lip and palette and five open heart surgeries.

"We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with such amazing organizations like the Chinese Agape Foundation, said Chad Jackson, director of philanthropy for Jackson Healthcare.  "It is wonderful to not only support these types of medical brigades, but also to spend time at the orphanages getting to know the children.  It is truly life changing for everyone involved."

Jackson Healthcare Charities has been involved with the Chinese Agape Foundation for more than four years and has plans to sponsor several more medical brigades in the future. In addition to sponsoring medical mission trips, Jackson Healthcare recently launched a free, online board, MedicalMissions.org, to connect qualified medical professionals with health-related mission opportunities around the world.  The new Web site is designed for charitable organizations and experienced physicians, nurses and rehab specialists to communicate volunteer interests and needs.
