New Research: Nurses Spending More Time Away from Bedside

Between July and November 2011, Jackson Healthcare, in partnership with Care Logistics and Jackson Nurse Professionals, conducted its second online nurse study to assess changes in the amount of time spent on indirect patient care since 2009.  Some key findings:

  • The majority of nurses surveyed spend one-quarter of their 12-hour shifts on indirect patient care
  • The number of nurses reporting that they spent at least two hours per shift on indirect patient care increased slightly from 73% in 2009 to 78%
