Jackson Healthcare Presents the Hospital Charitable Service Awards (May 3, 2010)

ATLANTA, GA (May 3, 2010) -  The Hospital Charitable Service Awards were created to celebrate and encourage the spread of innovative hospital programs that promote wellbeing, improve community health and increase access to healthcare services.

Our goal is to elevate the public's perception of hospitals by sharing stories of the remarkable work they are doing in their communities through innovative programs. We want to recognize and reward programs that go above and beyond the traditional definitions of "community benefit" and "free care." Programs that identify - and satisfy - tangible community needs.

The Hospital Charitable Service Awards program will forge a network that helps hospitals connect with each other to share their program models, experiences and successes in improving the health of the communities they serve. We hope this collaborative spirit will spread to other hospitals and communities for the benefit of all.

It is our mission to:

  • Create greater awareness of the amazing gifts hospitals offer communities through education, screenings, and other community service programs
  • Celebrate the accomplishments of hospitals that go beyond the minimum community benefit requirements and truly invest in caring for the underserved
  • Share existing "best practices" for delivering and funding community benefit initiatives
  • Connect hospitals with innovative approaches and new opportunities to serving the underserved
